Handel’s Messiah

The Chaplaincy of Aquitaine is organising its second 'scratch Messiah on 23 October 2010 in L'Eglise de la Cité in Perigueux in aid of two charities, Emmaüs, as in 2008, and L'Association des Paralysés de France.

Since our first Messiah the orchestra has played for both the concerts (2009, Requiem de Fauré) and (2010 Mozart Requiem) presented by Association Vocale Variations, under the direction of John Jenkins and our loyal soloists have participated in each concert and will be joining us this October

This again promises to be an exceptional occasion for the performance of this wonderful choral work. More information regarding the performance and tickets etc. will follow soon.

Strawberry Tea Party - 5th May

The weather could not have been less like summer! It poured with rain all day and even snowed at one point. Despite this, Liz Oaten and the Committee did splendidly with the traditional tea and the plant sale and bookstall. Well done to Philip Pearce for raising over 100 Euros on the bookstall.

In all the event raised over 500 Euros for Chaplaincy funds

Penny Sturges ran our brocante stall at the Sorges annual Ascension Day fete, mightily helped by a team of super helpers, who also enjoyed a bring and share lunch together. The event raised an excellent 360 euros for the Chaplaincy

Golf and Activities Day 5th June

Our annual Golf and Activities day was held at La Chaise, St Aquilin. The weather was superb – hot and sunny all day, and contributed to a very successful and enjoyable event.

The golf competition was held with prizes for the winners in the various classes. An excellent lunch and supper was provided with an all day bar, all important on this hot day!.

Guests (playing and non playing!) had the opportunity to buy and browse from the book and brocante stall, and buy plants for the summer season. Many thanks to Philip Pearce and John Hilton for devoting so much time and effort to these stalls, which raised over 200 Euros.

The swimming pool was open for use for guests to cool off between rounds.
