The Limeuil Hautparleur
Alpha
Courses
These
courses, which are run every year, are a splendid way to explore the
Christian faith.

New
Sound System
A
new sound system has recently been installed for the benefit of
everyone. In addition to this, the possibility of installing a
hearing loop for those who use hearing aids is currently being
investigated.
Chaplaincy
and Chap-Aid Annual General Meeting 2010
We
were delighted to be able to host the extremely successful annual
Chaplaincy AGM this year for approximately 60 people. The day's
events were held in nearby Alles sur Dordogne, as we no longer have
access to a Salle de Fêtes in Limeuil itself.

After
an informal reception with coffee and biscuits, we congregated for a
service of Holy Communion at the church, and then a short walk back
to the salle for an excellent lunch. In the afternoon the AGM
took place, which was followed in turn by the AGM for Chapaid.
All
papers, which had been circulated in advance, included interesting
reports from each sector on its highlights and officers' reports.
Following this there was an opportunity to ask questions. The
Chaplain summarised what had taken place over the last year, and
looked forward to the coming year. Elections and nominations
then took place.
It
was good to see so many people together reviewing the past year, and
planning for the future in harmony.

The
Hot Flush Fund!
After
years of chilly winter services and 'inconvenience' we are, at long
last, able to go ahead with a project to install electric heating in
the church and construct an indoor toilet with hot and cold water.
We
are very appreciative of the assistance from the Chaplaincy (a
generous contribution), and the Limeuil Mairie (project management
and administration) without which we would not be able to commence
work so soon.
We
anticipate the work starting in September this year and being
completed before the winter sets in (many parishioners have both
fingers and legs crossed for this timetable!)
We
are actively fund-raising and seeking donations to ensure that this
work is completed promptly for the comfort and convenience of all
parishioners.
Your
help will be most appreciated.

Midsummer
Soirée At Bayac
Once
again, we experienced a lively and entertaining evening in spite of
very unseasonable and inclement weather. As usual, thanks to the
kind hospitality of Gillian and Ian Strachan, the evening was held in
the barn at their home.
We
were right royally entertained by the Duke's Band and amused by the
Scott duo (Christine and Colin) who "Yes, They Remember It
Well". There was singing that moved us, and singing that made
us smile. A delicious meal and good fellowship added to the success
of the evening.

Treasure
Hunt
Quite
a number of us enjoyed a challenging tour of the beautiful
countryside between Belvès and Monflanquin, ending up at the
home of
David Albrecht for a well-earned BBQ-style meal. The journey along
the leafy lanes was taken at a leisurely pace in order to enjoy the
area which was new to many of the 'hunters', but the clues and
general knowledge quiz devised by Bob and Gill Sweetman were as
taxing as ever. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.
